We are growing and looking for more volunteers :  We need

A Talent Show Co-ordinator - to run our yearly talent show.  If you haven't seen it at Kildonan Place over the last couple of years you are really missing something.  We have some very talented people living in our area and this show promotes their talent.
Please contact us if you are interested in the above or even if you just want to help out

The Transcona Hi Neighbour Festival has been bringing the community together for 49 years. Theme's, Committee's and Venue's have changed, but the philosophy behind it is the same. Community involvement and fun!! Thanks to everyone who makes the festival a success every year!!

Come downtown and join in the fun!!

We wish to thank all the people that made last year's Hi Neighbour Festival a huge success. The weather was beautiful and we had no rain, which was a big plus, even when the majority of the city had down pours the sun shone on Transcona to help us celebrate our 100th Birthday. Without the citizens of Transcona, Sponsors and Donar's we could not have had the festival we had Thank - you to all.

CUTE STORY:
Jamus Young said: "My parents, mother pregnant with myself befriended another couple at Transcona's Hi Neighbour festival back in 1973. Of course, the rigours of parenthood caused these couples to completely lose touch after these babies arrived. Interesting fact here and the point of the story... after 15+ years those babies found their way back to each other with no knowledge of how they were already tied together! Those babies are Denise and I, now happily married and also have been a pair since 1988. Fluke or destiny? I think destiny folks. This is a true story." :)

WE LOVED IT!:
Marcus Strong said: "My family loved this event, especially the parade and the music! My little on really got off on the dancing twirlers and their amazing costumes. She was especially impressed with the fact that they all wore the same giant round eyeglasses and fluffy hats. All the way home she was pestering us about them and we had to promise her we'd buy her a similar kind of glasses (we got her round sunglasses!). The bag pipers were awesome and the spirit in the crowd was contagious. The kids never had so much fun!"

Hi Neighbour Festival Parade
Transcona Seniors
Special seating and viewing area

The Transcona Hi Neighbour Committee in association with the Transcona Legion have created a special viewing are so that Transcona Seniors, especially those with mobility issues, can have a front row seat and enjoy watching the Hi Neighbour Festival parade. The Legion have also given permission for use of their washroom facilities which are in easy access of the viewing area.

The Legion will also have a limited number of chairs available but you may want to bring your own seating just in case.

This special area will be mark off and is located at the Southern end of the Legion parking lot. The Legion have given permission for vehicles driven by seniors or by individuals delivering the seniors, can access the parking lot from the back lane coming from the East.

If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, please contact Peter Martin at 204-224-4131 ([email protected]for further details.

Many of the Transcona Seniors have participated in the Hi Neighbour Festival events in the past and it is very difficult for many to try and find a place to enjoy the parade today. We feel that the least we can do in appreciation is to provide an area for them to at least enjoy the parade and the excitement once again.
